What is the Brown Bag Mystery?
- The Brown Bag Mystery is a double mystery quilt event—you won’t know the final pattern or all the fabrics until you start piecing it together! Each mystery bag contains five carefully curated fabrics:
- One visible fabric on the outside to give you a hint about the quilt’s style.
- Four hidden fabrics inside the bag that will come together in a stunning mystery quilt! Your bag provides everything you need to complete the quilt top before borders and binding. The mystery unfolds in a fun, supportive community with expert instruction to guide you every step of the way.
What You Get
- Exclusive Mystery Quilt Pattern – Designed by Karen Montgomery.
- Fabric Kit – Includes the mystery fabrics for your quilt top.
- Step-by-Step Clues – Released every two weeks starting March 15, 2025.
- Video Instruction – Clear, designer-led tutorials by Karen Montgomery for each clue.
- Physical Clue Copies – Mailed to you or available for in-store pickup.
- Interactive Private Facebook Group – Connect with fellow quilters, ask questions, and share progress.
- Bonus Project – A special additional project to help you practice techniques used in the mystery quilt.
- Extended Video Access – Watch and rewatch tutorials through February 1, 2026.

- Early Morning Watch & Sew Parties – Join us in-store from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM for a cozy watch-and-sew session with local quilters. Enjoy a light continental breakfast and bring a potluck dish if you'd like!
- Final Reveal Sit & Sew Party – May 10, 2025 – Spend the day sewing with fellow participants while watching the final reveal and revisiting past video tutorials.
How to Join
Joining is easy!
- Pick Your Mystery Bag – Choose a bag that intrigues you, either in-store or online.
- Purchase & Register – Once you buy your bag, you’re in!
- Join the Private Facebook Group--You must tell Karen where you bought your bag to be admitted to the group!
- Receive Your Clues – Pick up clues in-store or have them mailed to you.
📦 We ship bags nationwide!
If you’re a winter visitor in Tucson, we’ll mail your clues to your home address when you leave.
